Compared to the same quarter of 2015 the total number of the travelled persons aged 15 and over increased by 10.4%. An increase was observed in the number of the Bulgarian residents travelled in the country - by 17.4%, while the number of persons travelled both in the country and abroad and travelled only abroad decreased by 53.4% and 22.6% respectively.

In December 2016, 1 938 accommodation establishments - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation with more than 10 bed-places were functioned in the country. The total number of the rooms in them was 57.4 thousand and the bed-places were 116.7 thousand. In comparison with December 2015 the total number of accommodation establishments (functioned during the period) decreased with 1.6%, while the bed-places in them increased by 1.6%.

In December 2016, the number of the trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 397.3 thousand or by 28.6% above the registered in December 2015. The trips with other purposes (as a guest, education and visit the cultural and sport events) in December 2016 composed the greatest share of the total number of trips of Bulgarian residents abroad - 53.4%, followed by the trips with professional purpose - 24.2%, and with holiday and recreation purpose - 22.4%.
