Statistical Yearbook 2025

The National Statistical Institute (NSI) has the pleasure to present to the attention of the national and foreign users of statistical information the 93rd edition of the ‘Statistical Yearbook of the Republic of Bulgaria’ in electronic format.

It provides current statistical information about the demographic, economic and social development of the country for the period 2019 - 2024 in different territorial and classification aggregations and breakdowns.

According to the Statistics Act, the official source of information in the Republic of Bulgaria is the National Statistical System, which comprises the National Statistical Institute, the statistical bodies and the Bulgarian National Bank.

The source of information must be indicated in the Statistical Yearbook. When the source is not specified, the published data are based on NSI's survey results.

The statistical information presented in the yearbook reflects the country as a whole and is also provided at the regional level. Data on demographic, social, and economic development at the regional level are included in the Regional Review Section. The administrative-territorial units, or 'districts', are presented in accordance with the Administrative and Territorial Structure of the Republic of Bulgaria Act, while the territorial units for statistical purposes - statistical zones and statistical regions - are presented according to the Classification of Territorial Units for Statistics in Bulgaria, which corresponds to Eurostat’s NUTS classification.

The yearbook is organized thematically into chapters, and each chapter contains methodological notes.

Value indicators since 2000 are given in BGN, following the denomination in 1999.

The data included in the International Review Section allow the making of comparisons between Bulgaria and other countries. The most recent data available at NSI at the time of preparing the edition are published. Aggregated results of the European Comparisons Programme (ECP) on Purchasing Power Parities (PPPs), price level indices, and real GDP per capita, as estimated by Eurostat as of December 17, 2025, are also provided.
