Employees under Labour Contract and Gross Average Wages and Salaries, First Quarter of 2021
According to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute at the end of March 2021 the number of employees under labour contract increased by 1.5% as compared to the end of December 2020 and reached 2.26 million.
In the first quarter of 2021 in comparison with the fourth quarter of 2020 the average monthly wages and salaries increased by 1.7% getting 1 462 BGN.
Trade in goods of Bulgaria with EU in the Period January - February 2021 (preliminary data)
In the period January - February 2021 the exports of goods from Bulgaria to the EU increased by 3.6% compared to the same period of 2020 and amounted to 6 616.5 Million BGN while the imports of goods to Bulgaria from the EU grew by 2.9% and reached 6 512.3 Million BGN.
In February 2021 the exports to the EU increased by 4.2% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to 3 309.6 Million BGN while the imports grew by 6.2% and added up to 3 428.4 Million BGN.
Trade in goods of Bulgaria with Third Countries in the Period January - March 2021 (preliminary data)
In the period January-March 2021 the exports of goods from Bulgaria to third countries decreased by 1.0% compared to the same period of 2020 and amounted to 5 025.3 Million BGN while the imports of goods from third countries grew by 7.2% and added up to 6 519.3 Million BGN.
In the period January-March 2021 the total value of all exported goods to third countries and EU amounted to 15 388.5 Million BGN, which is 7.3% more than the same period of the previous year, while the total value of all imported goods from third countries and EU added up to 17 063.8 Million BGN and grew by 9.2%.
Deaths in the First Quarter of 2021 (preliminary data)
The number of deaths in the first quarter of 2021 (1st – 13th week) is 36 152 and the crude mortality rate - 21.1‰. Compared to the same period in the previous year, the number of deaths has increased by 7 491 or 26.1%. Mortality among males (22.9‰) is higher than among females (19.3‰).
Life Expectancy at Birth in the Period 2018 - 2020
Life expectancy at birth of the Bulgarian population calculated for the period 2018 - 2020 is 74.6 years.
Life expectancy at birth for male population is 71.1 years, while for female it is 7.1 years higher - 78.2 years.
Activity of accommodation establishments in March 2021
In March 2021, during the continuing epidemic situation, 1 719 accommodation establishments - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation with more than 10 bed-places were functioned in the country. The total number of the rooms in them was 49.0 thousand and the bed-places were 98.8 thousand. In comparison with March 2020, when the state of emergency was first introduced in the country in connection with the global spread of the COVID-19, the total number of accommodation establishments (functioned during the period) increased by 3.4%, while the bed-places in them decreased by 5.3%.
The total number of the nights spent in all accommodation establishments registered in March 2021 was 439.5 thousand, or by 15.4% more in comparison with the same month of the previous year.
The total revenues from nights spent in March 2021 reached 24.6 million BGN or by 16.6% more compared to March 2020.
Construction Production Indices in March 2021
According to the preliminary data, in March 2021 the index of production in section ‘Construction’ calculated on the base of seasonally adjusted data was 1.2% above the level of the previous month. In March 2021 the working day adjusted index of production in construction increased by 11.2% in comparison with the same month of 2020.
Turnover Indices in 'Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles' in March 2021
According to the preliminary seasonally adjusted data in March 2021 the turnover in ‘Retail trade, except of motor vehicles and motorcycles’ at constant prices increased by 0.8% compared to the previous month. The working day adjusted turnover rose by 17.3% as compared to the same month of the previous year.
Industrial Production Indices in March 2021
According to the preliminary data in March 2021 the Industrial Production Index, seasonally adjusted, increased by 3.8% compared to February 2021.
In March 2021 the working day adjusted Industrial Production Index rose by 6.4% in comparison with the same month of 2020.
Newly Built Residential Buildings and Dwellings Completed in the First Quarter of 2021 (preliminary data)
According to preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute in the first quarter of 2021 the number of newly built residential buildings was 925 and the newly built dwellings in them were 4 011. Compared to the first quarter of 2020 the buildings were by 133 more (or by 16.8%) and the newly built dwellings in them increased by 208 or by 5.5%.
