The National Statistical Institute hosted a study visit in the field of Agrostatistics

In the period 13-14 May 2019 the National Statistical Institute hosted a study visit in the field of Agro-Monetary Statistics within the framework of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance IPA 2015 in cooperation with the German GOPA Consultants. Experts from the Statistical Offices of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey and Montenegro participated in the study visit. Lead experts from the “Accounts and prices in Agriculture and Forestry” Department of the NSI and “Agrostatistics” Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry introduced their colleagues to the European legislation in the field of agricultural statistics and its experience in its implementation in Bulgaria.

The event was declared open by Bogdan Bogdanov, PhD, Deputy President of the NSI, who cordially welcomed the guests and emphasized the importance of such events for the professional growth of statisticians in our region, the strengthening of good relations between the statistical offices and the importance of maintaining a constant debate on various statistical topics, that will contribute to the development of statistical theory and practice.

During the visit the main focus was on the following topics: the development of data for some of the elements of economic accounts for agriculture (intermediate consumption, fixed capital consumption, gross fixed capital formation), for the first and second estimation of income of agricultural activities, agricultural land prices and rent and the usage of the Farm Accountancy Data system for the calculation of the investments in agriculture.

The training proceeded in a constructive atmosphere, various topics related to the implementation of European legislation in the practice of EU-membership applicant countries were discussed.
