NSI announces final results for population number in Bulgaria

A little over 6.5 million people live in Bulgaria

The National Statistical Institute announced the final results how many people live in Bulgaria. The results of Census 2021 are released a year after the end of field work and will be announced in stages.

The population of our country is 6 519 789 people as the women are more and there are 927 men per 1000 women. For 10 years we have decreased by almost 845 000 people.

NSI will reward the participants in the games from the exhibition 'Statistics for Everyone'

On September 18, the exhibition 'Statistics for Everyone', which capital citizens and guests of the city had the opportunity to view in the 'City Garden' open-air Gallery, was completed. The National Statistical Institute honoured 45 participants in the games: 'Scan and win!' and 'Play with statistics', who will receive tangible prizes - cups branded with the NSI logo, headphones, eco-bags, statistical editions, etc. The NSI will contact the awarded participants, who will receive their prizes at the Central Office of the NSI at the address: Sofia, Panayot Volov Str. No.

On September 15 of every year, the first school bell invites students to step through the school door again. After a carefree summer, it is time for hard work. Flowers, joyful noise, laughter, and smiles fill the classrooms where children and adolescents will embark on the exciting path of knowledge, convinced that a good education leads to a better future.

The National Statistical Institute congratulates all students on the first day of school and presents an infographic with data on the number of teachers, students and schools in Bulgaria.

Exhibition ‘Statistics for Everyone’

On September 1, in the open-air gallery ‘Gradska gradina’ in front of the National Theatre in Sofia, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) and Sofia Municipality opened an exhibition on the theme ‘Statistics for Everyone’. From the 1st to the 18th of September, the citizens and guests of the city will be able to see the modern face of the NSI as a source of official data.

The results of Census 2021 will be announced on October 3, according to the previously set deadlines

Due to increased interest in the results of Census 2021, we inform you that their announcement will be organized in accordance with the Program of the Population and Housing Census in the Republic of Bulgaria in 2021, approved by Decision No. 717 of the Council of Ministers of 2019, as amended by Decisions No. 259 and No. 676 of the Council of Ministers of 2021.

The release of the Census 2021 data is not delayed and will be done in phases by early next year.

The NSI President's meetings with partner organisations continue

The President of the National Statistical Institute, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD, held two working meetings: with the Executive Director of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria, Sylvia Georgieva, and with the President of the Labour Union "Podkrepa", Dimitar Manolov. The two meetings were attended respectively by Neli Staykova, an expert from the NSORB, and Vanya Grigorova, an economic advisor to the president of the labour union.

NSI and BDB will collaborate in the research on the financing of small and medium enterprises

The National Statistical Institute (NSI) has signed an agreement with the Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) on cooperation in conducting studies and processing data related to bank financing of small and medium-sized enterprises in the country. 

NSI will assist in analyzing the search for financing opportunities for a ‘green’ transition and introducing ESG strategies (ecology, social development and corporate governance) in enterprises.
