The National Statistical Institute started work on the Project ‘Income and Living Conditions – EU-SILC Module 2026’

In October 2025, the National Statistical Institute started work on the project ‘Income and Living Conditions – EU-SILC Module 2026’, implemented under a grant agreement with the European Commission No. 101241406-2024-BG-ILC-SILC.

The project aims to improve data processing procedures and ensure compliance with the technical requirements for the new variables introduced for the first time as additional modules for 2026 in the survey ‘Statistics on Income and Living Conditions (SILC)’.

To achieve the project objectives, the following main activities are planned:

  • Organisation and coordination of the SILC survey, with a focus on the technical parameters and methodological approach for the implementation of the variables from the additional 2026 modules ‘Labour Market and Housing’ and ‘Over-indebtedness, Consumption and Wealth’;
  • Development of questionnaires including the variables from the 2026 modules, preparation of instructions for interviewers, and training of the staff involved in the project;
  • Updating the software application for data entry, processing, and editing, including the integration of new questions/variables, and preparation of a user manual;
  • Implementation of fieldwork and data collection, including quality control of field operations;
  • Processing of the collected data;
  • Analysis of the data;
  • Provision of reliable and comparable data in accordance with the established deadlines, as well as dissemination of the results.

The project has a duration of 21 months and is scheduled to be completed in June 2027.
