1. Total Producer Price Indices in Industry
The Total Producer Price Index in Industry fell by 0.4% in September 2025 compared to the previous month. A decrease of 3.0% was registered in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, while the prices rose in the mining and quarrying industry - by 10.1%, and in the manufacturing industry - by 0.2%.
Higher prices in the manufacturing industry were registered in the manufacture of textiles - by 3.3%, and in the manufacture of beverages - by 0.9%. A decrease was seen in the manufacture of leather and related products, and in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials - both by 1.2%.
The Total Producer Price Index went up by 8.4% in September 2025 compared to the same month in 2024. A rise was observed in the mining and quarrying industry - by 22.3%, in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply - by 12.0%, as well as in the manufacturing industry - by 10.8%.
In the manufacturing, the prices rose in the manufacture of basic metals - by 22.5%, in the manufacture of food products - by 20.3%, and in the manufacture of textiles - by 16.1%. Price reduction was registered in the manufacture of tobacco products - by 16.6%, and in the manufacture of furniture - by 12.6%.
2. Producer Price Indices on the Domestic Market
The Producer Price Index on the Domestic Market decreased by 0.7% in September 2025 compared to August 2025. The domestic prices in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply went down by 2.5%, while the prices rose in the mining and quarrying industry - by 5.1%, and in the manufacturing industry - by 0.3%.
In the manufacturing, compared to the previous month, higher prices were registered in the manufacture of wearing apparel - by 1.1%, and in the manufacture of beverages - by 1.0%. The prices went down in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products - by 1.0%, and in the manufacture of wood and of products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials - by 0.6%.
The Producer Price Index on the Domestic Market increased by 9.0% compared to September 2024. The prices rose in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply - by 21.1%, in the mining and quarrying industry - by 15.9%, and in the manufacturing industry - by 9.9%.
In September 2025, higher prices in the manufacturing in comparison with September 2024 were seen in the manufacture of food products - by 23.8%, in the manufacture of beverages - by 19.0%, in the manufacture of basic metals - by 15.8% and in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products - by 15.2%. Lower prices were reported in the manufacture of leather and related products - by 10.2%, in the manufacture of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers - by 9.1%, and in the manufacture of tobacco products - by 9.0%.
3. Producer Price Indices on the Non-domestic Market
The Producer Price Index on the Non-domestic Market rose by 0.2% in September 2025 compared to the previous month and by 7.6% in comparison with September 2024.
Methodological notes
Producer Price Indices measure the average change in the prices of industrial products, which are produced and sold by Bulgarian enterprises. They can be considered an early measure of the current inflation process in the economy and they can be used for international comparisons. Information for the calculation of Producer Price Indices is received on the basis of monthly surveys on producer prices of industrial products sold on the domestic market and on industrial products sold on the non-domestic market. Producer price surveys are based on a constant sample of groups of products, and that sample is representative of the total industrial production.
Total Producer Price Indices are calculated from Producer Price Indices on the Domestic Market and Producer Price Indices on the Non-domestic Market, weighted with the turnover structure on the domestic and the non-domestic market to the total value of turnover in the base year (2021).
