The President of the NSI presented the experience of Bulgarian statistics at the 65th World Statistics Congress

The President of the NSI, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD participated in the 65th World Statistics Congress, which took place in the period of 5-9 October 2025 in The Hague, the Netherlands.

In the first day of the event, Mr. Atanasov presented the experience and good practices of the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria with implementing the principles set in the European Statistics Code of Practice, within a session, dedicated to transforming national statistical systems.

At the same time, the International Statistical Institute (ISI) Members’ Reception also took place at The Hague, of which the NSI is an institutional member.

The World Statistics Congress is the leading global event for statistics and data science, organized by the ISI and taking place every two years. This year the meeting gathered around 1500 statisticians and specialists from the academic fields, official statistics, the private sector, central banks, statistical societies and more. The scientific programme included more than 250 sessions, seminars and short courses aimed at introducing participants with the latest trends in the field of statistics. The focus was set on the power of cooperation and innovation within the global statistical community, which was highlighted in the opening remarks of ISI President Xuming He.

Established in 1885, the International Statistical Institute is a non-profit, non-government organization, with individual and institutional members in over 150 countries. Its main objective is to promote the understanding, development, and good practice of statistics worldwide by providing a welcoming environment for advancing statistical knowledge, learning best practices, sharing state-of-the-art developments, and by creating opportunities for cooperation.
