New version of the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS 2027) enters into force

As of February 16, 2026, the new version of the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS 2027) has entered into force, adopted by the European Commission via Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2026/195. In this regard and pursuant to the Statistics Act, the President of NSI approved the updated version of the classification, concerning its part for Bulgaria, by an order dated February 18, 2026 (State Gazette, issue 23 of February 27, 2026).

As of January 1, 2027, all regional statistical data will be produced, published, and disseminated in accordance with the new version of the nomenclature.

The classification is available in various electronic formats, along with additional information on the topic, on the website of NSI under the section: ‘Statistical Classifications and Registers’, subsection ‘Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics in Bulgaria (NUTS)’.
