President of NSI took part in the 12th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee

The NSI President Assoc. Prof. Mariana Kotzeva, participated in the 12th meeting of the European Statistical System Committee (ESSC), which was held at Eurostat, Luxembourg, February 9, 2012.
The Committee decided to drop the requirement to provide monthly data on new orders in industry by the Member States, thereby reducing the burden on respondents and save money. Proposals for creating a simple and clear system for managing the European Statistical System and establishment of European Master in Official Statistics were discussed. Work Programme 2012 of the Sponsorship on Standardisation was approved. An initiative for closer cooperation between Member States in the integration of geospatial and statistical information was discussed and supported. A draft Commission Regulation laying down detailed rules for applying Council Regulation (EC) No 2494/1995 as regards establishing owner-occupied housing price indices was discussed.
The Danish Presidency made a review of the development of the legislative dossiers included in the six-month program, including results of the first discussion in the Council Working Party on Statistics of the European Statistical Programme 2013-2017.
