The National Statistical Institute has the pleasure of offerring to its users a new rubric in the “Health” section, titled "European Health Interview survey – main indicators".
The work, carried out in 2008 by the National Statistical Institute with Eurostat financial support in frame of the European Health Interview Survey’s first wave, was finalized through the calculation of main indicators and their presentation to the public users.
The indicators were developed in line with the proposed by Eurostat and included in the European Health Community Indicator (ECHI) definitions and in Open method of coordination (OMC) context. All indicators are calculated on the basis of the population aged 15 and over, except of the cases when a specific age is indicated. Data by gender were published.
The survey is a part of the European Health Survey System in the framework of the European Statistical System. The survey has been carried out every five year. The EHIS aims at measuring on a harmonised basis and with a high degree of comparability among EU Member States, the health status, life style (health determinants) and health care services use of the EU citizens.
The applied method of data collection is “face to face” PAPI interview as all persons aged 15 and over are interviewed.
More detailed information on European health interview survey and data from member-states carried out in the first wave of the survey, users can find in Eurostat web site:
