Meeting of the National Statistical Council

On November 26, 2018 a meeting of the National Statistical Council (NSC) was held.

According to Article 6 of the Rules on the National Statistical Council activity, Mr. Sergey Tsvetarski, President of the National Statistical Institute proposed Mr. Stoyan Tsvetkov, guest professor at the University of National and World Economy - Sofia, for new Chairperson of the National Statistical Council, due to request made by Prof. Hristina Vucheva for release on her own initiative. A gratitude to Prof. Hristina Vucheva was expressed for her long active participation in the activities of the National Statistical Council. Unanimously, Prof. Stoyan Tsvetkov was elected Chairperson of the NSC. The proposed two new representatives from the BNB and the NRA were also approved as members of the NSC.

The Report on the implementation of the National Statistical Programme and the Activity of the NSI in 2018 was discussed and adopted. Over the past year the NSI conducted 267 statistical surveys and activities, respectively the bodies of statistics - 46. A detailed review of the implementation of all statistical surveys and strategic priorities in 2018 was made in the Report. The members of the National Statistical Council expressed their positive opinion on its content and scope.

The Draft National Statistical Programme for 2019 prepared by the NSI was discussed at the meeting. The National Statistical Programme envisages 270 statistical surveys and activities to be carried out by the National Statistical Institute and respectively 45 statistical surveys and activities - by the Bodies of statistics. The Draft National Statistical Programme includes 23 new statistical surveys, activities and projects planned by the NSI, as well as one new survey and one new project planned by the Ministry of agriculture, food and forestry. As the good work within the National Statistical System was highlighted, the 2019 Draft project of the National Statistical Programme was approved by all participants.
