National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria launches a project with activities ‘Price Statistics - Methodological and Practical Improvements and Developments’ and ‘Real Estate Indicators’

In July 2017 National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria launches a project with activities ‘Price Statistics - Methodological and Practical Improvements and Developments’ and ‘Real Estate Indicators’ under European Commission Subsidy Agreement No. 04151.2016.005-2016.604.

Within the project NSI will participate in the following objectives:

  • Automatic linking of GTIN codes / shop specific codes to European Classification of Individual Consumption according to Purpose (ECOICOP);
  • Web-scraping as a source for the HICP;
  • Quarterly house sales indicators;
  • Development of a sub-national dimension of House Price Index (HPI).

The general objective of the project is to develop methods for compiling HICP by integration of successful European practices and improvement of the methodology that is used. The technical and methodological developments will also affect the area of house sales indicators - new data sources, indices at quarterly frequency and at lower level of detail, inclusion of web-scraping method.

The successful realization of the project will contribute the improvement of the quality of work in the field of consumer prices.

The project has duration of 15 months and will end in September 2018.
