Reconciliation of work and family life - Module to the Labour Force Survey in 2025

The National Statistical Institute has published data from the Labour Force Survey (LFS) module 2025 ’Reconciliation of work and family life‘, covering persons aged 18 to 74 inclusive. The survey was jointly financed by NSI and the European Commission.

According to the module results, 913.5 thousand persons (19.7% of the interviewed persons aged 18 - 74) had care responsibilities for own or partner’s children under 15 years of age, of whom 772.0 thousand, or 84.5%, were employed.

Professional childcare services (crèches, kindergartens, after-school centres, professional babysitters, etc.) were used by 57.4% of persons who cared for own or partner’s children.

Among persons who did not use professional childcare services for some or all of their children, 48.9% cared for them themselves or together with their partner (husband or wife).

There were 463.0 thousand persons who regularly cared for relatives aged 15 years and over, who were ill, frail or had disabilities, of whom 61.9% were employed.

In reconciling work and family life, 79.3% of employed persons with care responsibilities for own or partner’s children, grandchildren or relatives reported no work-related obstacles.
