The National Statistical Institute has published 'Road accidents in the Republic of Bulgaria 2025' in Bulgarian.
In 2025, 6 655 serious road accidents were registered on the country's roads, resulting in 456 deaths and 8 295 injuries. Compared to 2024, the number of road accidents decreased by 7.2%, the number of deaths by 4.6%, and the number of injuries by 8.4%. The number of accidents due to inappropriate actions of drivers remains the highest - 6 219.
A monthly breakdown shows that the number of deaths in road accidents in 2025 was the highest in August - 51 people, and the lowest in February - 25 people. Within a day, the highest number of road accidents with fatalities occurred between 4 and 6 p.m. - 972 accidents with 64 deaths.
The analysis by day of the week shows that on Friday, road traffic accidents with the largest number of injured persons were registered - respectively 16.4% of all injured persons. The number of deaths was highest on Saturday - 20.4% of all deaths, and lowest on Wednesday - 9.2%.
