At a special ceremony today, the current President of the National Statistical Institute, Sergey Tsvetarski, handed over the office to the newly elected head of the Bulgarian statistics, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD. He passed in to the new NSI President the Decree of Prince Ferdinand issued in 1897, which established the Directorate of Statistics of the Bulgarian Principality. ‘I hand it in as a reminder for the responsibility of each principal of the national statistics so that it be at the necessary high level’, said Tsvetarski.

We are excited to announce the results of the European Statistics Competition (ESC) 2022, which was held in the school year 2021-2022.

First prize in the category ‘Communication project in the public sector’ in the PR Prize 2022 competition was awarded to the NSI team for the Census 2021 communication campaign.

The International Statistical Poster Competition 2022 - 2023 is organized by the International Association for Statistical Education (IASE), the education section of the International Statistical Institute (ISI). In Bulgaria, the competition is run by the National Statistical Institute (NSI).

World Bee Day, May 20, was declared by a UN resolution in December 2017 and aims to raise awareness about the importance of bees and their protection.

The deadline for applying for the position of president of the National Statistical Institute has been extended until June 1 by an order of Deputy Prime Minister for Effective Governance Kalina Konstantinova.

The celebration provides an opportunity to promote issues related to families and to raise awareness of the social, economic, and demographic processes that affect them.
