The Deputy President of the National Statistical Institute, Svilen Kolev, PhD, participated in the Thirteenth Plenary Meeting of Europe Regional Committee of UN on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM: Europe) and the 74th plenary session of the Conference of European Statisticians (CES), held from 23 to 26 June 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland.

During the UN-GGIM: Europe meeting, participants discussed the European region’s priorities in the field of geospatial information, opportunities for interregional cooperation, and the integration of statistical and geospatial information to support policymaking and sustainable development.

During the 74th plenary session of CES, key issues related to the development of official statistics and the modernization of statistical systems were discussed. The event brought together representatives of national statistical institutes, international organizations, and experts from the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) region.

Among the main topics of the forum were the impact of technological and societal changes on the fundamental principles of official statistics, the role of national statistical institutions in today's data ecosystems, and the need to maintain trust in official statistics amid accelerating digitalization and the adoption of new technologies.
