The President of the NSI took part in the 41st meeting of the High-Level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for Statistics for the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development

The President of the National Statistical Institute, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, PhD participated in the 41st meeting of the High-level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building for Statistics for the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (HLG-PCCB), which took place on 1 March 2026. The event is part of the work programme of the 57th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission, which takes place at the UN headquarters in New York in the period of 27 February – 6 March 2026.

The NSI is an institution member of the High-Level Group and Assoc. Prof. Atanasov is one of the five representatives for the region of North America and Europe. The main goal of the High-Level Group is to foster the creation of global partnerships for monitoring and collecting data on the process of achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The participants reviewed the progress on implementing the Medellin Framework for Action on improving the capacity of UN Member States to collect and process statistics on monitoring sustainable development with a view on achieving the SDGs by 2030.

During the meeting, members were briefed on the progress of the organisation of the UN World Data Forum, which is planned to be held in the period of 9-12 November 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as well as its side events. The process for the selection of the host for the next UN World Data Forum in 2028 was also discussed.
