Honorary gesture from the Georgian Statistical Office on the occasion of the 145th anniversary of the NSI

The President of the NSI, Assoc. Prof. Atanas Atanasov, received a specially crafted honorary badge on the occasion of the 145^th anniversary of the establishment of the statistical institution of Bulgaria from Gogita Todradze, the Executive Director of the National Statistical Office of Georgia – GEOSTAT.

The gift was presented during the, held in Geneva, Conference of European Statisticians, as an expression of gratitude for the good cooperation between the two institutions.

Assoc. Prof. Atanasov thanked for the provided attention and noted his satisfaction with the fruitful cooperation between the statistical institutions of Bulgaria and Georgia, supported by the signed Agreement on Cooperation in 2016.

The cooperation between Bulgaria and Georgia in the field of statistics has a long-standing history, but in recent years has been actively renewed through a series of events within the framework of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), as well as via bilateral relations – experts from Bulgaria have conducted several training courses for young statisticians from Georgia within the framework of the Bulgarian Development Aid programme of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria.

Delegations from both countries have held mutual visits, and last summer Assoc. Prof Atanasov participated in an international conference in Tbilisi, during which he presented his colleague, Gogita Todradze with the honorary badge of Bulgarian statistics on the occasion of the anniversary of the establishment of GEOSTAT.
