Experts from the NSI Trained Statisticians from Kosovo

Experts from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics attended a two-day study visit at the National Statistical Institute. Bulgarian statisticians presented to their Kosovar colleagues the specifics of conducting the Continuing Vocational Training Survey (CVTS). The visit took place in Sofia as part of the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the heads of the two institutions in early 2026. At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the NSI welcomed the participants and emphasized that the exchange of experience and best practices is extremely important for the functioning of the European Statistical System, and that professional cooperation is the foundation for the development of statistical activities.

The training was conducted by Magdalena Kostova, Director of the “Demographic and Social Statistics” Directorate, and experts from the NSI’s “Education and Culture Statistics” Department. Representatives from the “Social Statistics” Department of the Kosovo Agency of Statistics participated on behalf of the Agency.

During the visit, the NSI’s experience and practices in preparing and conducting the Continuing Vocational Training Survey were presented, including the methodological aspects of the survey, the harmonization of questionnaires, data quality requirements, and other topics. Special attention was paid to the organization of fieldwork, practical solutions for addressing fieldwork challenges, subsequent stages, and the dissemination of results.

Representatives of the Kosovo Statistical Agency also presented the progress made in the country’s preparations for conducting the survey, discussing current activities and upcoming steps with their Bulgarian colleagues.

At the end of the training, the experts from the Kosovo Agency of Statistics thanked their colleagues from the NSI for sharing their experience and best practices and expressed their desire to continue cooperation in this area.
