Development of cooperation between NSI and UNICEF

On July 16, 2018, Mr. Sergey Tsvetarski, President of the NSI, met with Dr. Jane Muita – the newly-appointed UNICEF Representative in Bulgaria.

This was the first meeting after signing the Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the two institutions in May 2018. Mr. Tsvetarksi and Dr. Muita discussed the partnership between the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the National Statistical Institute. They set out specific actions to improve the monitoring of the situation of children in the Republic of Bulgaria related to the coordination and interaction in data collection and exchange in areas such as healthcare, education, protection, justice, access to social services.

The National Statistical Institute (NSI) is a state institution in Bulgaria that collects, processes and disseminates official statistical information on social, economic and demographic processes in the country. The NSI's activities are aimed at providing objective and reliable data that support informed decision-making by the state, business and society. The Institute works in accordance with international statistical standards and is an active participant in the European Statistical System.
