Business and investments between Bulgaria and China discussed in Sofia

Deputy President of the National Statistical Institute, Prof. Mihail Konchev, DSc, took part in the business forum and discussion, "New Horizons for Business and Investment between Bulgaria and China," which was held on 25 June 2026 in Sofia.

The event was organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and China Media Group and brought together representatives of government institutions, the business community, academia, and the non-governmental sector to discuss the prospects for the development of Bulgarian-Chinese economic cooperation. The forum was opened by H. E. Dai Qingli, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Bulgaria.

Prof. Konchev presented data on trade relations between Bulgaria and China for the period 2021–2025. Emphasis was placed on the steady growth of bilateral trade in recent years, the importance of official statistics in supporting economic analysis and the development of international partnerships, as well as changes in the structure of the leading import and export commodities traded between the two countries.

The forum's program included discussions on topics related to economic development, investment and innovation, cooperation across various sectors, and opportunities for expanding economic and investment ties between Bulgaria and China.
