NSI experts trained statisticians from Jordan in the field of National Accounts

Experts from the Department of Statistics of Jordan were on a study visit at the National Statistical Institute. The visit was funded by the EC, under the Technical Assistance Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX) for implementation of the acquis, within the framework of which is provided a short-term technical assistance in the form of seminars, study visits and expert missions. It was held from 18 to 22 June 2012.
In 2011, NSI delegation visited Amman and signed a cooperation agreement with the Department of Statistics of Jordan. Several aspects of cooperation were identified, including exchange of experience in national accounts.
The Department of Statistics of Jordan expressed a wish the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria to host a study visit on macroeconomic statistics. The aim of the training was to improve the institutional capacity of the Department of Statistics of Jordan by improving the knowledge of experts in national accounts. Experts from the "Non-financial National Accounts" presented the case of Bulgaria's national accounts - sources of information, approaches, quarterly and annual national accounts, input-output tables, and seasonal adjustment of time series data. The experts from Jordan presented the national practice in the field of national accounts - status and challenges.
This was the first visit of statisticians from Jordan to the NSI and its outcome is a good basis for further development of bilateral relations between the two institutions.
