National Statistics Institute launches a survey on Agricultural land prices and rents in agriculture

On April 9, 2012 National Statistical Institute begin a new survey in the context of which will be collected information for the market of agricultural land and rental payments in agriculture.
The survey is included in the National Statistical Programme for 2012 and is held under a grant agreement signed between the EC (Eurostat) and NSI. The title of the action is ”Agricultural land prices and rents data collection system for following common target methodology”. The project is conducted by the "Statistics of agriculture and forestry" department at the NSI with participation of experts from 28 regional statistical offices. The activities under project started on 1st of October 2011 and will be concluded on the 30th of September 2013.
Within the survey is gathering information on prices of agricultural land and rental payments in agriculture in 2010, 2011 and 2012 for five major categories of land by means of long term use (arable land, meadows, vineyards, orchards, grasslands and pasture) and by types of soil productivity.
The survey is conducting among the following groups of respondents: farms, joint stock companies with special investment purpose (agricultural funds investing in agricultural land) and real estate agencies.
The information is collecting via an electronic questionnaire, which is sending to respondents by e-mail with notification letter and instructions about filling in information.
The data of the survey will be representative at national and regional level (statistical regions, districts, municipality) and will be published on the NSI's web page in July 2013 and in a special publication on paper and electronically.
After completion of the project and after analyzing the results, NSI will start regular survey on the market price of land and rents in agriculture in Bulgaria.
