The Report on the activities of the NSI in 2017 and the National Statistical Programme for 2018 were adopted

On January 11, 2018 at its regular meeting, the Council of Ministers by a decision adopted the Report on implementation of the National Statistical Programme and the activities of NSI in 2017 and the National Statistical Programme for 2018.

In 2017 the National Statistical Institute successfully conducted 257 statistical surveys and 48 statistical surveys were carried out by the Other National Authorities. In the Report 2017 special attention was paid on the statistical surveys and activities carried out for the first time. The Annual labour costs of employers and their main components; Activity of financial enterprises obliged to compile consolidated financial reports in accordance with current legislation; Regional business demography; Spatial population data in grid format and Statistical system of sustainable development indicators were among them.

In the Report 2017 the emphasis was also placed on the results achieved by the implementation of horizontal priorities laid down in the Strategy for Development of the National Statistical System, as well as on the implementation of activities related to production of statistical information by thematic domains.

According to the National Statistical Programme for 2018 the National Statistical Institute will carry out a total of 267 statistical surveys within the current year. New surveys in 2018 are:

 Population projections;
 Community clubs;
 Preparation and gradual introduction of the UN / Eurostat International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS) into the country's statistical practice;
 Development of statistical indicators system "Sustainable Development Goals 2030";
 Development of a tool for quality self-assessment of statistical surveys;
 Development of National Process Metadata Structure (NPMS) for all statistical surveys and their loading into the national IT tool for reference metadata repository;
 Methodology for short-term forecasting of time series;
 Provision of anonymised data for scientific and research purposes;
 Occupational diseases;
 Survey on use of plant protection products.

The NSI will participate in various EC Projects as: Sub-National statistics; Interoperability Pilots - Steps towards implementing the European System of interoperable Business Registers (ESBRs); Statistics on research & development (R&D) and innovation in 2018 (CIS 2018).

In order to optimize cost and starting reduction of respondents’ burden few changes in the organization of some surveys were made and the deadlines for providing data for users were shortened.

The documents are promulgated in State Gazette Issue 8/23.01.2018 and will be published on the NSI’s website.
