NSI – host of a training of young statisticians from the Republic of Azerbaijan

The National Statistical Institute will host a training of 12 young statisticians from the Republic of Azerbaijan, organized jointly with the Centre for Statistical Studies at the University of National and World Economy – Sofia. The training will be implemented in the framework of ongoing Agreement for bilateral cooperation in the field of statistics between the National Statistical Institute of the Republic of Bulgaria and the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The training course “Introduction to theory and organisation of statistical surveys” will be held during the period 5-14 December 2016 at the NSI Training and Qualification Center in the village of Slivek, Lovech district. The aim of the course is acquaintance with the main concepts of statistical theory as well as the organization of some statistical surveys in accordance with EU standards in the field of statistics. The theoretical part of the training will be focused on:

- Nature and types of statistical surveys;
- Sampling surveys – nature, main characteristics and types.

During the training the participants will be familiarized with the practical aspects of statistical surveys conducted in Bulgaria in the field of demographic, macroeconomic and business statistics as well as some new methods for data collection, including Big Data.

The training is the last of series of events in 2016 related to the constantly developing relations between the National Statistical Institute and the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan - implementation of activities under the joint twinning project, visit of the Chairman in Sofia, signing a second joint Action plan within the bilateral cooperation.
