Trips of Bulgarian residents abroad and arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria - June 2026 - final data

In June 2026, the number of trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 1 039.7 thousand (Annex, Table 1), or 10.2% more than the number registered in June 2025. An increase in the number of trips with all observed purposes was registered.

Most trips of Bulgarian residents were made to: Türkiye - 257.4 thousand, Greece - 257.0 thousand, Romania - 99.2 thousand, Germany - 68.5 thousand, Serbia - 64.0 thousand.

The trips with holiday and recreation purposes formed the greatest share of the total number of trips of Bulgarian residents abroad - 47.3%, followed by those with other purposes - 37.7%, and with professional purposes - 15.0%.

In June 2026, the number of visits of non-residents to Bulgaria was 1 494.6 thousand (Annex, Table 2), or 4.7% more in comparison with the same month of the previous year. An increase by 10.7% was registered in the number of trips with other purposes and by 7.2% with professional purposes, while those with holiday and recreation purposes decreased by 0.2%. Transit passes through the country accounted for 31.9% (476.5 thousand) of all visits of non-residents to Bulgaria.

The share of visits by EU citizens was 57.0% of the total number of non-residents‘ visits to Bulgaria and reached 851.6 thousand, the largest being by visitors from Romania - 30.6%, Germany - 14.8%, and Greece - 14.1%.

The visits of non-residents in the group ‘Other European countries’^[1] were 554.5 thousand, or 37.1% of all visits to Bulgaria. The highest registered number of visits was from Türkiye - 252.5 thousand, or 45.5% in this group.

Most visits to Bulgaria were from: Romania - 260.9 thousand, Türkiye - 252.5 thousand, Ukraine - 127.3 thousand, Germany - 125.7 thousand, Greece - 120.1 thousand.

The predominant share of the visits was with holiday and recreation purposes - 50.0%, followed by trips with other purposes - 42.1%, and with professional purposes - 7.9%.
