Trips of Bulgarian residents abroad and arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria - February 2026 - final data

In February 2026, the number of trips of Bulgarian residents abroad was 585.8 thousand (Annex, Table 1), or 8.8% above the registered in February 2025. An increase in the trips with all observed purposes was registered.

Most trips of Bulgarian residents were made to: Türkiye - 134.7 thousand, Greece - 122.0 thousand, Romania - 68.9 thousand, Serbia - 46.6 thousand, Germany - 33.4 thousand, Austria - 26.7 thousand, Republic of North Macedonia - 24.3 thousand, Italy - 21.7 thousand, Spain - 14.2 thousand, France - 14.0 thousand.

The trips with other purposes formed the greatest share of the total number of trips of Bulgarian residents abroad - 46.1%, followed by those with holiday and recreation purposes - 31.5%, and with professional purposes - 22.4%.

In February 2026, the number of visits of non-residents to Bulgaria was 753.2 thousand (Annex, Table 2), or 4.5% more in comparison with the same month of the previous year. An increase in the trips with all observed purposes was registered.

Transit passes through the country were 28.4% (214.2 thousand) of all visits of non-residents to Bulgaria.

The share of visits of ЕU citizens was 55.6% of the total number of non-residents‘ visits to Bulgaria and reached 418.8 thousand, the largest being by visitors from Romania - 43.4%, and Greece - 24.2%.

The visits of non-residents in the group ‘Other European countries’^[1] were 279.1 thousand, or 37.1% of all visits to Bulgaria. The highest registered number of visits was from Türkiye - 153.8 thousand, or 55.1% in this group.

^[1] Group ‘Other European countries’ includes countries in Europe outside the EU.

Most visits to Bulgaria were from: Romania - 181.7 thousand, Türkiye - 153.8 thousand, Greece - 101.4 thousand, Serbia - 50.0 thousand, Republic of North Macedonia - 26.6 thousand, Germany - 25.7 thousand, the United Kingdom - 24.2 thousand, Italy - 19.0 thousand, Ukraine - 18.8 thousand, Israel - 18.4 thousand.

The predominant share of the visits was with other purposes - 45.2%, followed by trips with holiday and recreation purposes - 39.7%, and with professional purposes - 15.1%.
