Energy consumption in ‘Transport’ sector for 2023 (disaggregated data)

In 2023 compared to 2022, an increase was observed in the total energy consumption in the Road transport - by 1.62% to 141 711.269 TJ. The predominant share in energy consumption for this type of transport by motor vehicle category has the aggregated position of cars and vans (63.12%) with a consumption of 89 454.965 TJ. The largest share in total consumption by type of energy product has oil and petroleum products (93.03%) with a consumption of 131 830.828 TJ.

In 2023 compared to 2022, a decrease was observed in the total energy consumption in the Rail transport - by 7.30% to 1 736.763 TJ. The largest share in energy consumption for this type of transport has conventional rail transport (85.91%) with a consumption of 1 492.125 TJ. The largest share in total consumption by type of energy product has electricity (76.82%) with a consumption of 1 334.236 TJ.
