Business demography by regions - 2024

In 2024, the number of active enterprises¹ in Bulgaria is 415 087, and the newborn enterprises² are 43 315.

According to the distribution of enterprises by statistical regions and districts, the largest number of active enterprises is located in the territory of the Yugozapaden region - 170 285, as the largest share is concentrated in the district of Sofia (capital) - 30.7%. The number of enterprises in the Severozapaden region is the smallest - 27 591, and Vidin district has the smallest relative share - 0.6%.

The distribution of newborn enterprises is similar. The largest number of enterprises was born in the Yugozapaden region - 18 058, and the smallest in the Severozapaden region - 2 587.
