Data description

The universal postal service is performed regularly (during all working days) within fixed working time, with definite quantity and at reasonable prices and is accessible for every user at the territory of the country regardless of his place of residence. The following universal postal services are observed: letters, periodicals and parcels.

The data characterize the activity of postal services providers that handle letters, parcels and periodicals.

Statistical concepts and definitions

Letters - includes outgoing national and international letter correspondence (letters, postal cards, illustrated cards, printed issues up to 5 kg, small parcels ? up to 2 kg and postal advertising up to 2 kg);

Periodicals - includes subscription to periodicals and daily papers, as well as free sale of newspapers and magazines;

Parcels - includes national and international parcels up to 20 kg, comprising goods with or without commercial value.

Data are collected quarterly from the Bulgarian postal services providers, which perform universal postal services and have an issued individual license for such activity or part of it.

The survey is exhaustive.
