Tourism Satellite Accounts is an internationally accepted statistical system description, classification and analysis of tourism expenditure. Application of this statistical system is designed to estimate all expenditure related tourist trips, made before, during and after the trips. In accordance with the methodology of Tourism Satellite Accounts includes the following expenditure at current prices for tourist trips:

· expenditure of the residents in the country;

· expenditure of the non-residents in the country;

· expenditure of the residents abroad.

An international tourist is any person who travels to a country other than his/her permanent residence at least 24 hours but no more than one year and whose main purpose is not doing any activity for payment.

The purposes of visiting a country are the following:

· Excursion, holiday or entertainment (visits to cultural or historical sightseeing, sports events and other);

· Visiting friends and relatives;

· Professional purposes (business trips, participation in conferences, congresses, concluding deals, etc.);

· Other purposes.

The object of the survey are the foreign residents visiting Republic of Bulgaria and Bulgarian residents travelling abroad.

"TSA - Recommended Methodology and Framework" is in accordance with the World Tourism Organization, Eurostat and the UN. The purpose of the common methodology is every country used the same framework to construct the TSA. It is necessary for comparability the data in international scale.
