Trips of Bulgarian residents abroad by purpose of visit and by country of destination; Arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria by purpose of visit and by country of origin.

Nomenclature of the countries and territories by statistical purposes.

All foreigners, visiting Bulgaria by country of residents, by months and by purposes of visiting; All Bulgarian residents travelling abroad by months and by purposes of trips.

An international tourist is any person who travels to a country other than his/her permanent residence but no more than one year and whose main purpose is not doing any activity for payment in place visited.

The purposes of visiting a country are the following:

· Excursion, holiday or entertainment (visits to cultural or historical sightseeing, sports events and other);

· Visiting friends and relatives;

· Professional purposes (business trips, participation in conferences, congresses, concluding deals, etc.);

· Other purposes.

Every tourist - Bulgarian or foreign citizen.

All foreign and Bulgarian residents passing the border.

For the Trips of Bulgarian residents abroad - definite countries, for the foreigners - territory of Republic of Bulgaria.

· Regulation (EC) No 223/2009 on European statistics (recital 24 and Article 20(4)) of 11 March 2009 (OJ L 87, p. 164), stipulates the need to establish common principles and guidelines ensuring the confidentiality of data used for the production of European statistics and the access to those confidential data with due account for technical developments and the requirements of users in a democratic society.

The date for publishing of statistical information is indicated in the Release Calendar presenting the results of the statistical surveys carried out by the National Statistical Institute. The statistical information on the trips of Bulgarian residents abroad and arrivals of visitors from abroad to Bulgaria is published monthly: a month after the reference period on the website of the NSI.

The data are published on the NSI website, section Business statistics - Tourism in accordance with the Law on Statistics and the European Statistics Code of Practice respecting the professional independence and aimed at objectivity, transparency and equal treatment of all consumers.
