Functions of Environment Statistics Department:
• Develops new and improves already existing methodologies, tools and technologies of statistical surveys for the environment.
• Organizes and conducts statistical surveys covering economic units of all economic activities on:
– Waste from industrial activity;
– Waste form agriculture, forestry and fishery;
– Municipal and construction waste; way of storage and processing waste; facilities and installations for waste processing;
– Production of packaged goods and packaging;
– Provides information on: Protected areas; Noise protection; Control and prevention of pollution of sea waters and the Danube River, Management of the environmental protection activities, Sanctions and fines.
• Collection and verification of individual data from surveys on:
– Combustion and production processes - sources of air emissions;
– Water use and Water supply and sewerage;
• Provides gathering information from other statistical sources, which is needed for the environmental accounts and climate change - energy, industry, agriculture, labour and transport;
• Coordinates collection of administrative information on phenomena related to the environment outside of regular statistical surveys.
• Develops and maintains specialized nomenclatures and register of reporting units for statistical surveys on environment.
• Participates in the development and maintenance of GIS and databases.
• Takes measures to improve the quality and reliability of statistical data in the statistics of the environment.
• Prepares statistical publications, analysis and estimates on the state of environment and provides information for national and international institutions.
• Cooperates with national authorities and international institutions for development of legal base and harmonized with the international standards statistical methodology in the field of environmental statistics.
