Environmental Accounts and Climate Change Department has the following functions:
Develops new and improves the existing methodologies, tools and technologies of the environmental accounts and carries out statistical surveys providing an information base for the accounts as follows:
Air emissions accounts and Survey on combustion and production processes - sources of emissions into the atmosphere, and calculating air emissions;
Energy accounts;
Waste accounts;
Water accounts (qualitative and quantitative) and surveys "Water supply and sewerage" and "Water use";
Economy-wide material flow accounts and Survey on subsoil assets;
Economy-wide material stock accounts and measurement of unused excavated earth materials (including soil);
Forest accounts;
Environmental taxes by economic activity and Survey on paid environmentally related taxes and fees;
Environmental protection expenditure accounts and Survey on environmental protection and maintenance expenditure; tangible fixed assets with ecological use; total revenues from taxes and charges and expenditure spent on municipal waste; receipts and expenditure of specialized producers for the environment;
Environmental goods and services sector accounts and Survey on environmental goods and services sector;
Ecosystem services accounts;
Resource use and management expenditure accounts and transfers;
Coordinates collection of administrative information on processes and phenomena related to the environmental accounts other than the regular statistical surveys.
Develops and maintains specialized nomenclatures and register of reporting units of the statistical surveys related to the environmental accounts.
Participates in the development and maintenance of GIS and databases.
Implements measures to improve the quality and reliability of statistical data used for environmental accounts.
Prepares statistical publications, analyses and estimates on environmental accounts and climate change and provides information for the purposes of national and international institutions.
Cooperates with national bodies and international institutions in the development of legal base and statistical methodology harmonized with international standards in the field of environmental accounts and climate change.
