• Develops new and improves existing methodologies, statistical methods and tools for conducting statistical surveys in the field of foreign trade statistics and ensures their harmonization with Eurostat requirements.

• Conducts statistical surveys envisaged in the National Statistical Programme in the field of foreign trade statistics.

• Develops, coordinates and updates the legal framework in the field of foreign trade statistics in compliance with the European legislation.

• Coordinates the work of the department with other departments inside and outside NSI related to provision, processing, validation, control and dissemination of data on foreign trade statistics.

• Defines the thresholds and estimates the values of the trade below the thresholds and of non-response for the Intrastat system.

• Updates and maintains the Information system "Foreign Trade".

• Dissemination of foreign trade data to the users at home and abroad.

• Carrying out mirror exercises on commodity flows.

• Provides methodological support to the institutions providing data from administrative sources and participates in the development and maintenance of registers, classifications and nomenclatures used in reporting foreign trade statistics.

• Participates in the work of committees, working groups, meetings and seminars at national and international level in the field of foreign trade statistics.

• Works on improvement of foreign trade data quality and prepares quality reports.

• Methodological support of respondents and users of foreign trade data.

• Information exchange of foreign trade data with Eurostat, other institutions, international organizations and countries.

• Prepares reports and positions on the issues of foreign trade statistics.

• Prepares and provides data on foreign trade necessary for the statistical publications of the NSI and international questionnaires.

• Prepares tailor-made data on users’ requests.
