The Partnership Group (PG) is a steering group to ESSC, whose mission is to ensure further development and effective functioning of the European Statistical System (ESS), with the aim to make the work of ESS easier on the basis of mutual partnership and cooperation between MSs, mainly in developing common policies and tools and carrying out discussions on important strategic issues.
The Group consists of a NSO Director General, nominated by vote for the term of 2 years, Eurostat Director General, Eurostat Deputy Director General, the NSO Director General of the country holding the Presidency, the Director General of the country presiding at the EU Council of Ministers, the Director General of the country that will hold the next Presidency and four Directors General of National Statistical Offices, elected by vote for the term of 2 years. Normally the Group meets three times a year between the ESSC meetings.
Members of the Partnership Group in 2010 will be: the Director General of CSO, Ireland (Chairperson of PG); Walter Radermacher – Eurostat Director General; Marie Bohata - Eurostat Deputy Director General; the Directors General of the Statistical Offices of Sweden, Spain and Belgium, as well as Bulgaria, Italy, France and Finland.
At the 3rd ESSC meeting held on 19 November 2009 in Luxembourg, Mrs. Mariana Kotzeva, BNSI President received great support in the elections to PG and will join the work of the Group, beginning in January 2010.
