On 16 March 2009, Ms. Marie Bohata – Deputy Director General of Eurostat was on a mission to the National Statistical Institute.
During her visit she attended a high level seminar on reduction of burden and usage of administrative sources, together with Assoc. Prof. Mariana Kotzeva – BNSI President, Mr. Iordan Hristoskov – Governor of the National Social Security Institute, Mr. Stoyan Markov – Deputy Executive Director of the National Revenue Agency, representatives of institutions and business organizations. At the seminar she expressed her satisfaction with the established so far cooperation between the institutions in using administrative data sources and the necessity to reduce the burden on business.
At the meeting with the National Statistical Council and NSI experts she congratulated the statisticians on the progress of the National Statistical System of Bulgaria. During the discussions Ms. Mariana Kotzeva underlined the timely amendments made in the Law on Statistics and its conformity with the European legislation. She mentioned also the increased NSI work of European importance and informed the participants that in 2010, when the Bulgarian statistics shall celebrate its 130 anniversary, the BNSI will host the annual 96th Conference of the Directors General of the National Statistical Institutes of the EU Member States (DGINS).
Ms. Bohata visited the NSI electronic library and told the library specialists that she is very much impressed by the development of NSI e-services. She congratulated them for the enormous work done and achieved results.
