On 21 February 2013 an agreement for cooperation between the Bulgarian National Audit Office, represented by its President, Prof. Valeriy Dimitrov, and the National Statistical Institute, represented by the President, Reneta Indjova, PhD, was signed.

The National Audit Office and the National Statistical Institute shall cooperate and coordinate their activities in the field of Government Finance Statistics and External Audit through exchange of information, including provision of information services and completion of questionnaires sent by international organisations and institutions pursuant to commitments undertaken by the Republic of Bulgaria for regular or single provision of information; developing methodologies and conducting joint workshops, seminars, round table discussions, etc.

The agreement was prepared in accordance with Council Regulation (EC) No 479/2009 of 25 May 2009 on the application of the Protocol on the excessive deficit procedure annexed to the Treaty establishing the European Community, as amended by Council Regulation (EU) No 679/2010 as regards the quality of statistical data in the context of the excessive deficit procedure, and Council Directive 2011/85/EU.
