Reneta Indjova appointed President of the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria  
The new President of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) Reneta Indjova met with the former President of the institution Assoc. Prof. Mariana Kotzeva to accept the post and was officially introduced to the top management of NSI. At the meeting the President presented her vision for future work and outlined priority commitments.

Mrs. Indjova pointed out that this post is a challenge because of the great importance of statistics to modern society, which affects the importance of the institution and the people who work there. As crucial areas of work she identified raising awareness of business and other spheres of society, reducing the administrative burden, developing information and communication technologies, and last but not least dissemination of more relevant information, and equal treatment of all users.

Reneta Indjova, PhD in Economics, was appointed President of the National Statistical Institute on 21 March 2012. The change was imposed because of the appointment of Assoc. Prof. Mariana Kotzeva as Adviser Hors Classe to Eurostat, Directorate-General of the European Commission, as of April 2012.

Reneta Indjova was born on 6 July 1953.
In the period 1994-1995 she was the first lady Prime Minister of Bulgaria.
Graduated in economics from the University of Economics “Karl Marx” (now the University of National and World Economy, UNWE). Author of dissertation on structural aspects and disequilibrium of Bulgarian economy in the period 1965-1985. She has lectured at the UNWE and the Technical University of Sofia.

Economic adviser to the Grand National Assembly (1990-1992). In 1992 she was head of “Bad Loans and Privatisation” at the United Bulgarian Bank. From 1992 to 1994 she was successively member and chair of the Supervisory Board, and executive director of the Privatisation Agency.

From 1997 to 2005 she lived and worked in the USA.

From 2008 to February 2011 she was financial director at Tokuda Hospital, Sofia.

Her foreign language skills are in English, Russian, French and German.
