23.02.2012

Census Information System awarded with “IT project of 2011”
Winner of the “Computerworld Bulgaria” newspaper’s competition entitled “IT project of 2011” in the category “Public Organisations” became the Census Information System implemented by the National Statistical Institute. The award was presented at official ceremony in the Sheraton Sofia Hotel by Mr. Nikola Nyagolov, chairman of the jury and senior manager of “Consultancy, Management and Information Technology” at KPMG, Bulgaria.

“As all expected, the project was awarded for its exceptional public importance. Implementation of the new system has helped to conduct the Census easier, faster, greener and cheaper by using the advantages of Internet” – said Mr. Nyagolov at the award ceremony.

The NSI President Assoc. Prof. Mariana Kotzeva, upon receiving the award, in turn pointed out that the merit for the success of this grand NSI project belongs to many people – the team of methodologists that laid the foundations, IT experts and NSI contractor on the project Consortium “ACN Consulting” – group of companies Abbaty AD, Ciela Norma AD and Neo Services OOD, the state institutions that perceived the Census as common national cause, the media that were the basis for promoting the project and last but not least more than 3 million and 100 thousand people who trusted us and used the Census Information System.

The award for IT project of the Year in the category “Corporate Sector” won the project “Hybrid Renewable Energy Systems” implemented in the cab company “Yellow 333”. The award was presented by Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Mr. Valery Borissov.

“Computerworld Bulgaria” newspaper carried out the competition “IT project of the Year” for the eighth time. This year 24 projects participated in the competition and the jury determined three nominations in both categories.
