Participation of the NSI President in summit meetings in Brussels
On 7th February 2011 the NSI President Assoc. Prof. Mariana Kotzeva will participate in two summit meetings at the European Commission in Brussels.

The first meeting is with representatives from the Directorate General “Economics and Monetary Affairs” and is organized in cooperation and under the direction of Mrs. Marie Bohata – Deputy Director General of Eurostat. The meeting will be attended by the Presidents of the Statistical Offices of the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, France and Portugal. This is the second in a series of meetings with several stakeholders in relation to the development of the next Multiannual Programme for Development of Community Statistics for the period 2013 – 2017.

The Second meeting is of the members of the Sponsorship Group “Friends of the Chair for Future Guidelines for the Development of Statistics” (FROCH group), created in relation to the implementation of the strategy for new governance of the EU economy, launched by the EC in May 2010. The Sponsorship group works closely with the Working Group on economic management, represented by Herman Van Rompuy, Chairperson of the Council and aims to develop statistical indicators that are closely connected to the framework for wider and more effective macroeconomic surveillance of the euro zone countries and for implementing the tasks of the “Europe 2020” Strategy.
