Working meeting in Rome on the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union

In relation to the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union the President of the NSI Sergey Tsvetarsky will conduct a working visit on the preparation and holding of the Presidency in the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat) in Rome between 30 November and 1 December 2016. During the visit Mr. Tsvetarsky will familiarise himself with Italy’s extensive experience in chairing the Council Working Party on Statistics. He will discuss the overall negotiation process on legislative proposals in the field of statistics with his Italian counterpart Giorgio Alleva and his team that carried out the Italian Presidency in the second half of 2014.

Bulgaria will assume the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first semester of 2018, when the National Statistical Institute will chair the meetings of the Council Working Party on Statistics. The Working Party is chaired by the Head of the national statistical institute of the country holding the rotating presidency of the Council.

The Bulgarian Presidency is part of the trio Estonia - Bulgaria - Austria for the period from July 2017 to December 2018.
