Official delegation from Georgia visited the NSI

An official delegation from Georgia with representatives from government institutions, parliament and experts was on a visit to the National Statistical Institute. The delegation was led by Dimitri Khundadze, Chair of the Parliament Committee on Healthcare and Social Issues. Members of the delegation were Deputy Ministers of Labour, Health and Social Affairs, and Education and Science. The Deputy Director of the National Statistics Office of Georgia Tengiz Tsekvava was also present at the meeting.

The visit was organized by the Georgian representation of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in connection with the forthcoming development of a demographic strategy in the country and taking an in-depth analysis of data from the population census in 2014, related to the issues of population dynamics such as population size and density, birth rate and mortality; aging, youth, and analysis of issues related to gender equality.

The aim of the visit was the Georgian experts to get acquainted with the experience and knowledge of Bulgaria related to the development and implementation of national demographic policy and to learn more about the institutional mechanisms of the executive power for coordination and implementation of the policy.

During the meeting, the President of the NSI Sergey Tsvetarsky noted that only two months ago an Agreement on cooperation in the field of statistics between the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria and the National Statistics Office of Georgia was signed and the two institutions are already carrying it out. He expressed his confidence that the bilateral cooperation will develop further in the future.
