Call for participation in the Eurostat survey on administrative burden of Intrastat reporters

Help us measuring the administrative burden on Intrastat reporters!

Eurostat is launching a survey to collect quantitative and qualitative information on the current administrative burden faced by businesses reporting intra-EU trade in goods (Intrastat) required by the current legislation and on the future potential burden derived from the Intrastat re-design alternatives.

The introduction of the Intrastat system resulted in a simplification for businesses in comparison to the former customs clearance system. Since its introduction, there have been various initiatives to strike a balance between the reporting burden on businesses and the need to provide users with sufficiently accurate statistics. This principle has led to several changes of the Intrastat legislation which helped burden reduction, despite this however Intrastat still represents a particularly burdensome statistical data collection process. The intention of this survey is to measure the burden in the current system of data collection and of various Intrastat alternative options.

The survey results will be studied within a European Commission – Eurostat wide study, which will examine alternative options to further reduce the administrative burden associated with Intrastat while maintaining the current level of quality of the intra-EU trade statistics. Answering the survey will not take much time and will ensure you have your say on how Intrastat will look in the future.

Therefore, Eurostat, the National Statistical Institute and the National Revenue Agency are inviting you to take part in this survey and fill in the questionnaire accessible via the link below:

Your contribution to measuring the administrative assessment burden of Intrastat will be very much appreciated.
