NSI will participate in the forty-sixth session of the United Nations Statistical Commission

The President of the National Statistical Institute Sergey Tsvetarsky will take part in the forty-sixth regular session of the United Nations Statistical Commission, which will be held from 3 to 6 March 2015 at UN Headquarters in New York. The forum will discuss a range of issues of global importance for the development of statistics worldwide.
 
The agenda items include the following topics:
 Draft principles and recommendations for population and housing censuses, Revision 3;
 Approval of the draft resolution on the 2020 World Population and Housing Census Programme and provision of guidance on the proposed activities of the UN Statistics Division;
 Report of the Friends of the Chair Group on the broader measures of progress included in a roadmap for the post-2015 development agenda;
 Progress on Big data for official statistics;
 The need for guidance from the Commission for rearrangement of priorities for official statistics in support to the post-2015 development agenda;
 Overview of the various data sources and collection methods used as sources of information  and proposals for set of actions to improve the availability and quality of refugee statistics at the national, regional and international levels;
 Identification of three priority areas for improving crime statistics - upgrading of methodological standards, technical support to countries and improvement of international reporting on crime;
 Report with recommendations of the World Bank regarding households survey, given its decisive importance in the post-2015 development agenda; the implementation of the  System of National Accounts (SNA);
 Progress made by the use of the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting;
 Final report on the implementation of the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics.

Items for information will be related to health statistics, gender statistics, celebration for the second time of the World Statistics Day, and etc.

The programme includes a meeting of heads of statistical offices of the EU Member States at the EU Delegation in New York, where Mr. Tsvetarsky will take part.

Many side events will be held parallel to the official session such as a High Level Forum on Official Statistics on the topic ‘Partnership for Capacity’ in the context of the data revolution.
