| Industrial Production and Industrial Turnover Indexes, December 2009 |

The preliminary data showed that the Industrial Production Index decreased by 12.1% in December 2009 as compared to December 2008, as compared to the previous month the production decreased by 0.7%. Industrial Turnover Index decreased by 9.8% compared to December 2008, as compared to the previous month the turnover increased by 5.8%.

According to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute, the construction production in December 2009 was 13.6% below the level of the previous month.
A decrease of 17.9% was registered in the production of building construction but in the civil engineering production it was 6.5%.

The production of unleaded motor gasoline in November 2009 compared to October 2009 increases by 17.7% and electricity - by 10.2%. Decrease is observed for the production of solid fuels by 6.7%, LPG by 9.1% and transport diesel - by 5.3%. There is no change in the production of natural gas.
The deliveries of unleaded motor gasoline in November 2009 compared to October 2009 increase by 7.8%, transport diesel - by 8.0%, natural gas - by 37.9% and electricity - by 22.5%. Decrease is observed for the deliveries of solid fuels - by 9.3% and LPG - by 3.8%.

Total Producer Price Index in Industry in December 2009 increased by 1.2% compared to the previous month; compared to the same month of 2008 the prices increased by 0.9%. |

The goods carried by the railway transport in December 2009 are by 1.8 % less than in the previous month, while as to the same month of 2008 there is a decrease by 18.0 %.
In the passenger traffic, the total number of passengers carried increases by 0.5 compared to the previous month and in comparison with December 2008 there is a decrease - by 1.1%.

The production of solid fuels in October 2009 compared to September 2009 increases by 37.6%, LPG by 22.2%, unleaded motor gasoline – by 1.6% and electricity – by 12.8%. There is no change in the production of transport diesel and natural gas.
The deliveries of solid fuels in October 2009 compared to September 2009 increase by 36.9%, natural gas – by 10.8% and electricity – by 13.5%. The decrease is observed for the deliveries of LPG - by 18.8%, unleaded motor gasoline – by 14.4% and transport diesel – by 37.2%.

Data on ICT usage in enterprises survey show the widely use of Internet by the business. The growth rate observed for the period 2004 - 2009 is 22.1 percentage points and in 2009 reaches 83.9%. Broadband penetration is increasing faster during the last 6 years (41.2%) and 69.6% of the enterprises have broadband connection to the Internet during 2009.

In October 2009, the total production in construction decreased by 25.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. A decline of 30.6% was registered in the production of the building construction, while in the civil engineering production it was 15.3% compared to October 2008.

According to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute, in the third quarter of 2009 the newly built residential buildings were 685 and marked an insignificant increase of 0.9% compared to the second quarter of 2009. The number of the new dwellings in them decreased by 674 compared to the previous quarter of 2009 and reached a number of 5 214.

During the third quarter of 2009 according to preliminary data in comparison with April-June period is observed growth at goods carriages in transport as all. The goods carried increased by 18.7%, and performance in tonnekilometres increased only by 2.7%. But over the corresponding period of 2008 is registered dip by 7.7% for carried goods and 17.7% for performance.
During the third quarter of 2009 transported passengers are with 4.5% less than the passengers in the second quarter of the same year and with 6.8% less then transported passengers during the corresponding period at last year. Performance in passengerkilometres increased with 4.5% over last three months, but in comparison with corresponding third quarter at last year performance notes dip by 16.8%.

The deliveries of solid fuels in September 2009 compared to August 2009 increase by 31.1%, unleaded motor gasoline – by 150%, transport diesel – by 145.7% and natural gas – by 28.5%. The deliveries of LPG and electricity decrease respectively by 11.1% and 4.7%.

In the third quarter of 2009, the average expenditure per person of 15 years and over travelled domestic and outbound with private purpose were 280.7 BGN and 1116.3 BGN respectively.

In the third quarter of 2009, there were 3 303 accommodation establishments - hotels, motels, camping sites, mountain chalets and other establishments for short-term accommodation with more than 10 bed places. The total number of the nights spent in the third quarter of 2009 in all accommodation establishments fell by 1 567.2 thousand (15.7%) as compared to the same period of 2008 to 8 424 thousand.

According to the preliminary data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) the number of employees under labour contract at the end of September 2009 decreased by 2.7% as compared to the end of June 2009 and reached to 2.34 millions.
In third quarter of 2009 in comparison with the second quarter of 2009 the average monthly wages and salaries decreased by 0.9% getting 583 levs.
